The 2014 Ford Escape is considered one of the best compact crossover SUVs on the market. It includes some new additions this year to build upon the 2013 model’s total re-design. The ’14 Escape is upgradeable to S, SE and Titan trims while the SEL trim is no longer available.



The Escape trims have three different four cylinder engines. There’s a base four cylinder, 2.5 liter engine for the S that has 168 horses and 167 pound feet of torque. The SE and Titnium have a 1.6 liter engine with 178 horses and 184 pound feet of torque. There’s also an optional 2.0 liter turbocharged engine for the SE and Titanium trims that has has 240 horses and 270 pound feet of torque. Each trim has a six speed automatic transmission. The S is front wheel drive while the other trims can be equipped with either front or all wheel drive. The S’s 2.5 liter engine gets 22/31 mpg. The 1.6 liter engine gets 23/33 mpg. The 2.0 liter achieves 22/30 mpg.



The exterior is sleek and handsome while the interior is accommodating and functional.

Remote start
Hands free operated Power liftgate
Ambient interior lighting



Optional features on the Titanium trim include 19 inch alloy wheels, a navigation system, a panoramic sunroof and a comprehensive Technology package.



In terms of safety, the Escape is well equipped. It has a rearview camera, antilock disc brakes, front seat side airbags, a driver knee airbag, full length curtain airbags, blind spot mirrors and traction control.
