It is time for a new car. That being said, perhaps you should look into the Mazda 6. This is a great midsize, sporty sedan. The brand new 2014 base model is even extremely affordable as it begins at $21,000. Now that is a price I can wrap my head around and afford! has noted that the Mazda 6 “drives well, looks fantastic and returns significantly better fuel economy while being faster.” What is that fuel economy you ask? Well, this vehicle gets an estimated 40mpg on the highway!

This is because of a great compression ratio that is highly efficient. Mazda has perfected the things that matter in regard to compression ratio such as timing, shape of the piston dome, the spray pattern and even the temperature. If you ask me, that kind of gas mileage makes it a great commuter car! Another great feature of the Mazda 6 is the smooth operator skyactiv drive automatic transmission. Think about it, this has the convenience of an automatic but responds like a manual. You get the best of both worlds! That would make my husband and I happy since he likes manual, and I only know how to drive automatic. Furthermore the company has the philosophy that the details are important and that is where art and true craftsmanship is found. I couldn’t agree more with this philosophy. Details are everything.

If that isn’t enough to get you to consider buying a Mazda 6, then maybe the following safety features will. This car comes with a radar cruise control system that automatically maintains a good speed and distance behind the car in front of you. It also comes with a forward obstruction warning system that detects obstructions early and warns you of a possible collision.

Third, it comes with smart city brake support that prevent accidents by applying the brakes automatically if needed. The lane departure warning system is another great feature. It alerts you as the driver if a car next to you is drifting in their lane and it looks like they are changing lanes even without their signaling. The rear cross traffic alert alerts of you oncoming cars if you are about to reverse helping you better sense what is behind you. Another great feature is the blind spot monitoring. If the car notices an object in your blind spot it’ll alert you so changing lanes or something doesn’t cause an accident.

Finally another great safety feature is the high beam control system. This will automatically switch back and forth between high beams and low beams when there’s traffic and when there’s not. If you ask me these are some great safety features in a car that is so affordable. Since I want a car that will keep my family and I safe, this should be a contender when it comes time to get a new car. Whether or not you are looking to buy new or used, Mazda is the way to go, especially if you live in Kansas City.
